1. Describe your selection process. What motivated you to analyze the text you chose? Why is it important to you? Why should your reader care about this analysis; what might you teach them?
I chose the fishermen's wharf sign in the most attractive place for the tourists. The reason I chose this place because every time when I go to school or come back home, I saw that and it caught me attention because the sign is big and place around there it is a lot of seafood place so make me try seafood there. Also, I think that they are trying to give tourists attention about the place and San Francisco.
2. Describe the Text itself.
I think it is taken in the summer around the evening time because it is beautiful, sunny and nice. I believe the symbol of crab will grab a lot of attention because it is located in the most busiest area and it's huge.
3. Describe the Contexts.
The location is between Jefferson Street and Taylor Street. Near this sign, there are a lot of souvenir shops, restaurants and San Francisco Dungeon. Since there are a lot of fun things to do for tourists. Of course, the food, parking fee, souvenir gifts are really expensive however a lot of tourists are still buying it because their culture or beliefs are that gifts or souvenir might save their memories or moments the time they spent in San Francisco. What I think about the community in the San Francisco is specialize just for the tourists. It is because I learned something from my work which also located in the Fishermen's Wharf. That is in that area, there are two different taxes which are 8.5% for the federal SF and another 2.5% for the Fishermen's Wharf.
4. Analyze the authors/ creators of the visual text
So How is that Fishermen's Wharf become popular in San Francisco? The history behind that is migrants Italian came to the city of the bay and started to invest his businesses in fishing and became successful. Therefore, we can see a lot of Italian seafood restaurants around the Fishermen's Wharf. Another interesting thing about San Francisco Fishermen's Wharf is clam chowder. It is originated from the Europe and it made with whatever seafood. However, as the clam chowder passed all over the world and by the time, it got here to San Francisco, we recreated the original recipe which is eating with sourdoughs. It is how the San Francisco Fishermen's Wharf famous for.
5. Describe what was your reaction to the text? Logic?
This is a reason why a lot of tourists came to my work place and asked me " Do you know any restaurant has a good clam chowder?" I'm not from San Francisco. However, since I will be living here, I should know this because this is my new home. So I can answer the questions what they asked. The fishermen's wharf sign gives a lot of people think that here in SF has really good seafood place and in my opinion, I think it is true because it is small community and there was history about Italian fishermen what made this community popular and famous to the tourists.
