Reading Annotation Blog #1: They Say/I Say Ch. 8
Writing is just not only about pilling up information and write it down. Writing is much more than that and it is better of writing with yourself. It has to be clear as possible and connect with the statements you claim and arguments. This Chapter is basically about how you connect with your thoughts into writing. To make the sentences flow, there are few strategies that the chapter 8 suggest that 1) using transition words 2) adding pointing words 3) developing new key words 4) repeating yourself but not redundant.
Using "transition words" is really helpful in paper because those can help you not only to flow the sentences to another. It can also connect two sentences into one sentence and have arguments. Therefore, the more you use transition words, it can help more about leading into connecting with the text and make a strong argument.
Using "pointing words" will be little complicated because this, that, those, these and so on. It can makes easily to misunderstand for readers because as a writer, we might think it is clear for themselves however there might not be for readers. Therefore, the chapter suggests that when we use them, be more specific about what you want to refer to.
"Developing new key words"means using synonym and antonyms in the paper. It helps to write more for the paper and makes reader attention by not too repetitive and boring.
"Repeating yourself but with a difference" Repetition is one of the key to creating continuity in writing. It is because we should point out our main ideas and messages frequently to make attention to readers what we really want to say.
I feel think developing new key words and repeating yourself are the same categories because in order to repeat yourself, you have to come out with new words with the same meaning to expand your ideas or writing.

My first week of my second semester is so busy and stressful because I am still debating which philosopher class I should take. Starting back my old routine after taking one month break, I am tired and not used to. but I will have to prepare for myself in order to finish all my assignments on time for every classes. My prediction for this semester will be so busy because I am taking 16 units which means 5 classes and 1 lab. The challenges I will be faced will be time management and studying more than before.

Spring Semester: Syllabus Response

Reading or reviewing syllabus before students start taking their classes is very important. It is because students will have better understanding of what we will do throughout the semester. In this semester, students will need to write three essays on Path Appears, one research paper for Literature Review and interview then one academic narrative essay. For example, "Write a Course Reflection/Academic Narrative, answering: how does your academic identity, future plans, interests, and possible ‘causes’ connect with authors we’ve read throughout the entire course? How do you, as the author of your research project, contribute to academic conversations of other authors? " Based on what the syllabus say, students will understand what they need to do with the essay like what the main audience of the essay and what the professor hoping us to produce the perfect narrative essay. Therefore, reading the syllabus is really important because students will know what we will be doing for the class also can be more prepared.
The policies are fair and the descriptions of essays are well explained like always!!
