Annotation: Blog #12

Textual analysis is the analysis of the text but also understanding what the author trying to say. The goal for this study is to interpret the text and explain the meaning of the text in your own words. Moreover, we need to find evidences to support what we analyze. The article explains about the tips for how to write textual analysis. It is an understanding of what the text says, means and how we interpret with the text. To do that we should do summarizing the text with own words. Another important thing is to identify the thesis and argue it back to make sure that we understand fully about the text.
Literary analysis is the literary to examine the text with close reading to understand the messages, then interpret with their meanings. For this type, we really need to pay attention of every single of words that we read and think deeply about the meaning of each words. To make clear interpretation, we use the evidences from the text like quotes and explain what does it mean. The thesis for literary analysis is like talking with the text, explain the text and interpret with the something that we can related or argue back. Especially, this type of writing, make sure not to use "I".
Reading Strategies

  • skimming to know the ideas 
  • finding the purpose of the text
  • finding the context (inform, persuade, entertain)
  • Connecting with the text to symbol
  •  Highlighting the main ideas
  • Writing comments and asking questions 
  • Restating the main points
  • Thinking the large context to understand more about the text
Writing Contexts
  • Think about what the topic that you want to wirte
  • Think about what kinds (analyze, compare, summarize) 
  • Think about the audience 
  • Express your ideas toward the audience 
  • Tone (formal, informal)
  • Medium?
