Textual and Literary Analysis

Literary Analysis: 
- Examine literacy text and understand their messages
- interpret with their meanings.
- look for the pattern of writer's techniques.
* most important thing is to understand deeply about the text of meaning.
- Use evidences to prove of your understanding. (argument) 
- Pay attention of the style and tone. Don't use "I" in this analysis.
- Thesis should be specific, limited and larger context. 
- connect with your personal experiences and reality. 
- talking with the text.
Textual Analysis:
- summarize the text before you analyze it . (with our own words) 
- identify the author's thesis 
- you need to understand the text before analyze it. 
- support your understanding with the quotes from the text as evidences.
- Restate the thesis.
-  Introduce the text ( with own words) 
-Analyze the text  (identify the theme) 
- Support the evidence to prove your understanding 
- restate the thesis 
- Explain what the text means


Closer Reading (readers- you) 

  • Name (3-4 places) that's difficult/ that what you want to analyze? (What do individual quote mean?)
  • Summarize the text 
  • Connect with the experiences, texts 
  • What can you help about yourself from the text 
  • strategies for reading ( skimming, highlighting, looking for patterns)
Rhetorical Analysis ( Young and Spanish Lady) 
  • why author decide to write about it in certain way
  • analyze author's ( audience, tone, genre) 
  • Purpose 
  •  Analyze the overall message of author ( summarize)
  • Analyze pathos, ethos, logos
  • Analyze the author's background, claims
