Paper Reflection
Paper Reflection
This is the first proper research paper I wrote throughout my academic year. I wrote research paper before in the High School however I didn't know how to cite the work cited and insert quotes, etc. This paper helped me to learn how to write research paper also since Professor Dan gave us a lot time to focus on this research paper, I learned more about my topics.

Interview
- Tell me about your education in the past when you were growing up
I grew up in Hawaii. My education system was really bad because I think my area where I live. Not that we are poor, my parents are in middle class. But where I grew up, we(our school) didn’t have many resources. When I hit to sixth or seventh grade, we didn’t learn many new things. For music class, we had to share one trumpets with four or five people. Yeah, we didn’t have many resources. Textbooks are the same for like ten or fifteen years. That’s how bad it was. So when I went to Highschool, I went to private school. I was kinda behind compared with others. When I went to college, I was still behind compared to students who went to here in mainland.
- Do you think the education in US is good?
I would say it is inconsistent because the place when I grew up, it’s bad but some places; even in Hawaii, there are really good public school from beginning to the end. The education in here is so much inequality. So if you have money, you can go to private school. The education system is not that great but it is getting worse and worse. So people who have money, they sent their children to private school. So all the good students go to private school. Some people who couldn’t afford education for their children and bad students go to public school. So the inequality of education is growing in Hawaii.
- Do you know anything about education in developing countries especially in Asia?
I’m not familiar but I am wondering if it will have some similarities. Like parents who have money, they send their children to private school. Parents who don’t have money, their children stay in public school. In Japan, there’s a lot propaganda passed down to the education. “ Be loyal to your country” Even my education system in the past was bad, we didn’t have to memorize things and not that much propaganda like in your old school. Memorize Memorize and I think there’s connection between getting student to memorize uncritically meaning you just memorize and you don’t think. Once the students learn without thinking critically, which means you just feed them anything you want. I am lucky that it didn’t happen to me.
- What are the educational differences between US and Asia countries?
I would say it will be still have educational inequality between this two countries.
- Do you know anything about Myanmar?
I know about there has large amount of Chinese population. It controlled by military very a long time; repressive government even with Aung San Suu Kyi. Many different minorities within country; like small different languages. But I don’t really know that much about Myanmar.
- In general, what do you think about what government should invest more money on? Education, medical, government, etc?
Definitely on medical and education.
- What I have research in Myanmar education, teacher get paid very little compared with other countries especially in US. Do you think Myanmar Government should increase the salary for teachers and why?
Wow, that’s really surprising for me. Even though some people like me who passionate to teach and this career doesn’t give me some amount of money, I would be stressed out because I would think about money first in order to survive my living. It sounds kinda selfish haha. But I strongly suggest to Myanmar Government that they really should increase salary for teachers because being teacher is part of learning process like students will learn through their experiences of course and also acquire informations for teachers is important too.
- How do you think or feel about Myanmar either in the history or current time? What should Myanmar change in any other ways that you could think about?
Based on what I know, Burmese people believe in Buddhism and I don’t get why the government ruled by military which means full of anger and other stuff. And I feel like they should change the rule of the government.

I think "keep it real" in academic writing is like be true yourself about what is your main point and opinions.
-credibility and personal opinions.
- connect with the audience.
- clear message
- be confident with your speaking.
- relevant to yourself; like expereinces
- your own message
- vlunerble
Coates
- how he writes to his son and his personal experience
- what he notices around the world through his education
- his body appearance and reality (race/ social issues)
Malcolm X
- religious/ spirituality
- shows creditable by reading a lot, learning self taught in prison
- tells stories/ history
Adisa
- tells about her childhood/ poetry

I think I like "Victor Villanueva" because he talks about his personal stories about how he grew up in his environment through "Ghetto" but he made himself educated person. So that makes me feel like I have more hope and chance to become educated person. like other people can make themselves to become educated person so why can't I do when my situation is better than him; growing up in the bad environment.

The book called " Bootstraps" by Victor Villanueva talks about his personal story as a Puerto Rican in the United States. The first chapter " The Block" which means where the black people and other uneducated people with different culture and different languages used to make TROUBLE. The author went to School with different teachers which have different understanding of students. Some teachers don't even know about the background of the student's life and language culture. "No college" since he talks a lot of about "Ghetto" when usually don't have education background so what the college mean for is the future of the prison. Victor really want students in ghetto should be continue on the education instead of hanging out for no reason with other uneducated people. Because, he grew up from the society however, he out of there and made himself educated person. Therefore, the first chapter is talking about his first step of life and success.
"Still, I have a hard time seeing you as someone of color." My guess , that he meant that as a compliment, likely having something to do with competence. The colleague must see "color" as brown and black and not quite as able (though the incompetence is a social problem, tot a genetic predisposition, no doubt). (xiii)
"Color isn't always race when it comes to teachers. It's an attitude, more an understanding of where we live than where we're from." (2)

"LYING IN THE TALL GRASSES, EATING CANE "
This article is talking about how she became the writer/ poet through discovering through the Caribbean and African American writer. She is from Jamaica, by the time when she's back to the country, she started to observe the people in her country and their education. During her work, she talks about her mother language which is Jamaican. However, she feels like even though she has been writing for over twenty years; she doesn't feel like she is not perfect enough.
"They lived life with a robust intensity that tingled me to the core. I searched my mind for words, language with which to convey the intensity of their feelings, but believed myself to b sadly lacking. So I stored their stories in the recesses of my mind. " (185)
"I always suspected this history I was being taught was somehow erroneous or at best lopsided and suspect. ! didn't feel wrong or inferior, yet my education was telling me that even the way we Jaqiaicans spoke-was wrong." (185)
"Why did it take me eighteen years to discover them and then so far from home? From then on, I read avidly and tentatively began to seek out black writers in New York" (186)
In many ways, I sense that the depth of my feelings borders on sickness; yet I am also painfully aware that this lover is as necessary as the blood that feeds my heart. (188)
Questions:
- What she means by first priority? " But I have never given writing first priority" (188)
- Who's her lover in poem?

Richard Wright is trying to say about the race while there was discrimination and racism back in the history of United States. I think the article introduce with that quote because the narrator also been through the situation and understand how they felt. They are meant to born with negative assumptions even though if there is true or not.

This article talks about history of black people and how they been treated. Everything around for us was terrible, dark and violence crimes. In 1986, the narrator was in sixth grade when the white boy was about to shoot him based on his skin tone. The narrator had to learn how to shield his body by nodding and shaking hands in order to survive the neighborhoods. He had to be careful with whatever he does because based on the skin tone, the rules are essential for him. The violence makes him cost the body. Later, he married to a woman and have a baby; they lived in Delaware with not enough property. Slavery and Enslavement are not meant to be the end but it is wrong to claim the black people's present circumstances but never compensate for the triumph. They struggled a lot in the past therefore the narrator wants his son to understand his ethnicity and how he should be acted in order to responsible for the worst actions of other black bodies.
"Thus America's problem is not its betrayal of "government of the people, " but the means by which "the people" acquired their names" (6)
"It does not matter if the agent of those forces is white or black-what matters is our conditions, what matters is the system that makes your body breakable." (18)
"The world had no time for the childhoods of black boys and girls. How could the schools?" (26)

"I tell you now that the question of how one should live within a black body, within a country lost in the Dream, is the question of my life and the pursuit of this question, I have found, intimately answer itself."(12)

Learning to Read article is talking about how Malcolon X's reading process from the beginning to pro. Before he became the minister of Mr. Muhammad’s, he went to the prison. This was how he started to read and study. He started to read about History of the United States then around the world. Which book made him more interested reading in book were "Abolitionist Anti- Slavery" and "the father of History". Through reading books, what he had learned was how the white people brought up issues with other types of ethnicity. It is basically talking about how reading can change through your thinking?
"Reading it over and over, especially certain sections, helped me to understand that if you started with a black man, a white man could be produced; but starting with a white man, you never could produce a black man- because the white chromosome is recessive." (3)

The open- ended question is really important because it makes the interview looks more interesting and more things to learn from their answers and also we can ask more questions based on their answer too. For example; how, why and what would you do, etc.

The article is talking about how to do an interview with good strategies. When we ask questions, it said there is also collaborative listening. There are two different questions which are closed questions and open questions. Closed questions are more simple questions like what, who, when, etc. But for the open questions are like why, how, etc. When we do the interview, the most important thing is being a good listener. Even we ask the perfect questions to interviewee, if we can't interpret and not being a good listener. The information we get will not be that good. In order to become a good listener, we should prepare for the set of good focused questions and need to change directions in anytime based on the interviewee is heading to. There are some strategies how to set up for the interview.
"Those strategies are part of interviewing - learning to ask and learning to listen"(220).
"Although most people think that the key to a good interview is asking a set of good questions, we and our students have found that the real key to interviewing is being a good listener"(225).
"To become a good listener as a field interviewer, you must also haves structured plans with focused questions. And you must be willing to change them as the conversation moves in different directions. With open questions, background research, and genuine interest in your informant, find yourself holding collaborative conversation from which both learn. It the process, not the preplanned information, that makes an interview successful"(226).

In humanities, as a human we need to have a sympathy to emphasize other people who need help.

They both agree that the reason why Myanmar Education System is out of date because they still believing in the histrorical period which really impacted on the modern society.

Chapter 4 is basically saying like whenever we write the paper, we need to prove our instinct whether we agree, disagree or both to let the reader know about where we are making a claim. Also, giving examples about how to write the agree or disagree in the passage and what we should need to put reason for those claims that we make. There are three ways to respond; 1) disagree and explain why 2)agree and with a difference 3)agree and disagree. what it means by when we disagree; we have to make sure we persuade our argument to the reader about why we disagree. when we agree, we need to tell the Reader about our experiences and sounds like more realistic. when we are in both, we need to make sure which points we agree and which points are not.
" For this reason, this chapter's advice applies to reading as well as to writing. Especially with difficult texts, you need not only to find the position the writer is responding to - the "They Say" but also determine whether the writer is agreeing with it, challenging it or some mixture of the two"(56)
"That is, the complexity, and originality of your response are more likely to stand out and be noticed if readers have a baseline sense of where you stand relative to any ideas you've cited(57).
Chapter 5 is saying like most students are familiar with the sentence " Don't use I in essay" but the article said that it is okay use "I" because the readers might don't know "is that your opinions or other people's opinions" Therefore, "Differentiating your views from those of others, or even offering your own views in the first place."(72) then, there are examples to show how to write clearly "voice maker"
"Frequently, when students have trouble understanding difficult texts, it is not just because the texts contain unfamiliar ideas or words, but because the texts rely on subtle clues to let readers know when a particular view should be attributed to the writer or to someone else"(69).
Chapter 6 is saying like we all should have counterargument to make the essay sounds more interesting and more open minded.
"It suggests that even though most of us are upset at the idea of someone criticizing our work, such criticisms can actually work to our advantage(78)".
Chapter 7 talks about how "So What and Who Cares" important because when we didn't put it, it makes the essay looks less interesting and not too detailed about the topic. There are some template to grab reader's attention by suggesting the real problem in your claims. Also, we are basically trying to say is why we care about our claims and why the reader should care.
"The best way to answer such questions about the larger consequences of your claims is to appear to something that your audience already figure to care about. Whereas the "who cares?" question ask you to identify an interested person or group, the "so what?" question ask you to link your argument to some larger matter that the readers already deem important"(97).

So, those websites can be used as opinions and arguments. but I never thought about beside Wikipedia, there are a lot of untrustworthy sources out there.

This article is basically saying that whatever we see in the website, we shouldn't rely on them until this sources are reliable because For example, Wikipedia has unlimited permission to edit the information however we want. Therefore, this can lead to our misinterpretation with new wrong perspectives. Also, we should be the evidences that we claim. This is important because if there is no evidences, our claims will be untrustworthy and makes us look like judging other people's view points. We also have open minded when we are looking at other people's claim because we all have different perspectives based on what we believe.
This article also talks about young people are not good at researching because we believe in things easily and not researching enough about where this information really came from. Every students use INTERNET to research. This becomes to normal in these days. As this becomes normal, a lot of sources are available for us and it is really easy to find out. However, we don't know for sure where this info came from? They didn't give us enough details to trust this website or not. There are a lot of sources but it is really difficult to find where the information came from and should we trust them.
"It was obviously never the case that just because something was printed meant that it was true"(14).
"The higher up in a Google search, the more credible the entry. Sometimes students remarked that they considered the qualifications of the author before believing what they found, but in no instance of the screen captures could the researchers find evidence that author credibility steered students’ decisions"(15).
“The teaching of history should convey only facts and be free from political motives, personal opinions, biases, propaganda and other common tactics of distortion. Every claim that is made about history should also be accompanied by documentation proving its basis"(16).
"Simple questions. Who owns a site? Who links to it? Forget about power drills and pneumatic nail guns. Can we start with a hammer and a saw? "(16)

Thesis Statement should be placed at the beginning of the essay and it should be clearly defined, focused and supportive. There are 3 steps to formulate on working thesis statement; misinterpretation model, gap model and modification model. what it means by that misinterpretation model is correcting, gap model is making a claim of value and modification model is what others have said. All three models will help us to create a better and stronger thesis statement. Context in the essay is important too because this is the writer's claim so the readers can know what the writers up to. In conclusion, we should recap the thesis statement in the first sentence of the last paragraph to tell the readers that we gonna end this essay soon and remind our main points again to the readers.
"A working thesis is valuable in the early stages of writing because it helps you read selectively, in the same way that your issue- based question guides your inquiry"(100).
it is saying that we should have our thesis statement first so that we can lead to other open perspective later for the paper.
"A variation on the gap model also occurs when a writer suggests that although something might appear to be the case, a closer looks reveals something different" (102)
for example, although thesis statement is like you also have negative effect, but you still need think other option is more likely agree with that.

It has to be something we are interested in and related with us. So that, when we write we can also put pathos with our experiences which makes it sound interesting. When we are researching, it is so important to know our websites are reliable or not. For example; wikipedia; this is really great source to start off when we don't know anything about the topic. But we can't trust wikipedia because anyone can view and edit on that website which can be misconcept. Second, we need to DISTINGUISH BETWEEN PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SOURCES. Primary sources are eyewitness like interviews. Secondary sources are something we analysis to the primary sources. Another thing we need to distinguish is between POPULAR AND SCHOLARLY SOURCES. The issue I chose from the book is improving health & education. Especially for the girl's health like providing sanitary pads will help girls to come to school everyday. Moreover, some girls are experiencing menstrual cramps during period so people should provide pain killer to them in order to stay focus in the school. I think this is important issue because every girls should have clean sanitary pads in order to feel confident while they are going to school or even with the family. It is because most girls think that this is nasty thing.

Essay#3 Idea Draft
Essay#3 Idea Draft
I am thinking to research about promoting health problems like sanitary pads for girls and women in poor countries. I feel like this problem is so important because women cannot avert this since this is the natural biological things that happen to every girl. Most girls are ashamed of themselves and missing school because they couldn't afford sanitary pads.
Organization: Scharph's Organization, Sustainable Health Enterprises (SHE)
- designs affordable banana fiber sanitary pads in Rwanda to improve feminine hygiene and increase school attendance.
Questions: How do we solve this problem? Manufacture cheap pads and provide them?
Does giving out sanitary pads can make girls to stay in the school? What other factors can cause girls missing school due to mensural period?
Quotes:
"Scharpf visited Rwanda, where the cheapest pads commercially available were Chinese-made and cost $1.10 for a pack of ten"(288).
"The traditional model of making a difference was conservative, passive and risk-averse" (288).
"Our view is that pads won't eliminate the problem but may mitigate it"(290).

Academic writing is the understanding of what we read or know to respond the ideas to the others. It is also like a thoughtful idea which comes from the other conversations and writes it into academic style. "Empathy" is one of the ways to understand other's perspectives of what they believe and think. There are steps to joining an Academic Conversation. 1) Be receptive to the ideas of others.2) Be respectful 3) Engage with new perspectives 4) Be flexible to be open mind. By doing this way, we can expand our thinking to ask more questions. First thing, we need to do is find the issues that stand out to you and interesting to you. Then, focus on a specific issue to organize your inquiry and develop an argument, think about your audience. After thinking about what is our research, try to come out with the questions that relevant to our paper. Like why education is important? Do people who live in poor countries can afford their children in education, if they don't, then why? By asking these why, how, what questions can help us to lead an argument or belief to write for our research paper.
" These two concerns- with inclusion and with exclusion - helped focus the student's inquiry" (88).
Like what kind of question we should address for a specific issue and what kind of question we shouldn't address?

I enjoyed reading this story because I feel that this kind of rape should be serious and help the girls who are domestic violence and rape. "we can make a difference by speaking up" (311)

Like when they don't have money for living, there will be lots of negativity outcome such as hopelessness, health and social communication.

I would say it's not okay because they are the role model to lead the organization so they should get more salary than anyone else. If they don't get paid, there would not be charity organization and people can't help or encourage needy to help. It is because they need to put effort not only their stragtegies and also the time. The corporation in charity has a lot of responsible to work on to make things work so they better pay off.

The story about "The Power of Hope" convincing us that everyone can achieve what they are aiming for because all you need to be hopeful. Especially in the poor countries like Kibera where crimes, garages and abusing are so many and Kennedy Odede were grown up with his mother who didn't want him and wanted to kill him at birth. However, he ran away from home and started his new life. In this story, there are combination of categories going on like poverty, hope and education. This boy who didn't go to elementary, middle and high school however he ignored all the negativity that can destroy the hope and keep going.
What are the internal limitation of poverty?
What is his motivation?
Without any support, can he be still fulfill his aim or successful?
Are the Poverty, hope and education can affect on individual grits or outside resource support?

Reflection on Essay Blog
1. I chose to analyze the text since the pictures are not that much and I couldn't relate with the pictures. My analysis is about higher education in United States and Zimbabwe.
2. It's not that challenging because it is shorter so of course it's better for us to spend less time writing 3 or 4 pages. But, I wrote almost three pages for the essay#1. and I hope the future essay will be like 2 pages requirement. But there was challenging for me to choose which story is fit together to flow my main ideas about higher education.
3. I would say it's little difficult for me to process to revise. I would rather print copies to revise for my essay so my classmates can write down the comments next to where they don't understand. So. it's easier to make sense to me when I revise or edit to my essay.
4. So What ? it's important to include in the essay because the reader can understand what we connect with the author that we analyze and why the author matter to us. Also, to explain SO What? the reader can know the deeper understanding of the writer. Like essay#1, based on what I chose to analyze, in the conclusion I wrote like why the author's overall message mean to us?
5. I still struggling how to post my essay on the blog with the link. Overall reflection, I learned from the author is that we need to take action first in order to become what we want.

When A Path Appears, Opportunities Follow
In the book “A Path Appears” by the winning journalist Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn wrote about creating chances to deliver opportunities to change for better. The book was published in September 23, 2014. The first thing I progress before I read the book, I looked the summary from the back and the author’s background for better understanding. The introduction of Path Appears, grabbed my attention because there has little short stories about people who made it change and impact on themselves or for the community. The way I annotate for the novel, I used the sticky notecards to write the main points or supporting points. Moreover, I wrote the short summary of the stories at the end of the chapter. I have read up to Chapter 4, the authors keep continuing telling us the different stories about turning into the biggest positive changes in the end. Although this book has many stories about higher education however, the main central theme is encouraging people to make a difference in the world or in their community.
In Chapter 4 “ The Land of Opportunity- If you Catch Them Early” talks about we can create the differences of the child’s life by interacting with them appropriately with nurses and parents in early childhood. If parent desires their children to have a better life, both parents required to take action to influence them in their early days. For example, the story about Professor David Olds, who invented the program of Nurse - Family Partnership, for children to have a better future life by training them at their beginning of their childhood. The author stated that "If we miss that opportunity at the front end, it can be far more difficult and costly to try to undo the damage later"(66). According to the authors, Kristof and WuDunn was trying to say, the opportunity for the kids is based on their parent how they interact with them in their early childhood. This story talks about parents can make a difference to their child life and higher education in their future.
The founder of this program, Olds believes that parents who wait for their children until the age of four to send to preschool are wrong. The reason is why because there is no differences which lead to drop out school early and will not be succeed in the future. For example, the author restates what David Olds said “Olds was blunt: I don’t think this program makes a difference, and we won’t know with available data. But I think we can design an intervention that will make a difference and that can be evaluated so we’ll know whether it works” (62). In this quote, Olds claims that his invention of sending nurses to child’s parents home as regular basis to check up can make the differences for child’s future. Therefore, in the end of the chapter 4, I annotated that David Olds can change differences not only for children’s higher education and also their lives.
In the introduction from Path Appears, Rachel Beck who is only nine years old started to raise money to help build a well through charity: water. She believed that water is one of the essential commodity in human life and people world wide lacking clean water. After her ninth birthday, unfortunately she confronted to the bad situation in a car accident with her family. Her aim was to raise three hundred dollars to help the charity: water. However, people started to donate money through the charity: water website which raised up to ten thousand dollars in the end. In the Marie Forleo’s interview with Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, WuDunn claims “That hope is like a path in the country: At first there is nothing and then because people walk this walk this way again and again, a path appears”. Based on this quote, WuDunn stated that first there was no fund for the charity: water which means there was nothing unless Rachel aimed to raise 300 dollars for her birthday. Even though she couldn’t raise 300 dollars on her birthday, afterward people started to take that path to donate money. In the end, Rachel can raise up to ten thousand dollars. Thus, I concluded by annotating that Rachel made a difference in improving health and created the opportunity to feel a hope in her community.
The main theme of “Path Appear” is creating opportunity to make differences in higher education and better health by telling us stories.

- I am planning to analysis the text and annotation that I did when I was reading the Path Appear.
- This book is basically about encouraging people to take opportunity and make it change.
- Probably I will write about the author background in my introduction. For my thesis, I will focus on the quote that I like which is " We can do better if we put our hearts and mind to it" (16) with that quote I will connect with my reading and writing process. Like as the time goes passed by, we can also write better if we put our hearts and mind to make it change for better.
- For my evidences; "We decide that our focus should be on expanding opportunity worldwide because talent is universal but opportunity is not" (10) Based on this quote, we should take learning as an opportunity to take action to become academic reader or writer over time.
"The benefits of outreach flow in both directions. It's not only the Isemondes who gain, but also those who help"(12)
- Just like the story about Tererai Trent and Professor David Olds who invented the program for children to have a better future life by training them at their beginning of their childhood.
"if we miss that opportunity at the front end, it can be far more difficult and costly to try to undo the damage later"(66).
- While I was annotations the Path Appear, I used the stick notecards to write down the short summary and the main ideas
- My annotation will be helpful when I am writing the essay by using as a example or prove my argument of my thesis statement. I think the rest of the book will be still different little interesting people who made the difference in the world.
- The main argument of the author is giving message about we should take action when there is an opportunity, don't miss out.

With that money she can change the people's life with clubfoot. She changed their hope and future. One quote that I like is "We can do better if we put our hearts and mind to it"(16) Lottery of birth is really depend on the person's environment and their destiny. Reading Annotation Blog #1: They Say/I Say Ch. 8
Writing is just not only about pilling up information and write it down. Writing is much more than that and it is better of writing with yourself. It has to be clear as possible and connect with the statements you claim and arguments. This Chapter is basically about how you connect with your thoughts into writing. To make the sentences flow, there are few strategies that the chapter 8 suggest that 1) using transition words 2) adding pointing words 3) developing new key words 4) repeating yourself but not redundant.
Using "transition words" is really helpful in paper because those can help you not only to flow the sentences to another. It can also connect two sentences into one sentence and have arguments. Therefore, the more you use transition words, it can help more about leading into connecting with the text and make a strong argument.
Using "pointing words" will be little complicated because this, that, those, these and so on. It can makes easily to misunderstand for readers because as a writer, we might think it is clear for themselves however there might not be for readers. Therefore, the chapter suggests that when we use them, be more specific about what you want to refer to.
"Developing new key words"means using synonym and antonyms in the paper. It helps to write more for the paper and makes reader attention by not too repetitive and boring.
"Repeating yourself but with a difference" Repetition is one of the key to creating continuity in writing. It is because we should point out our main ideas and messages frequently to make attention to readers what we really want to say.
I feel think developing new key words and repeating yourself are the same categories because in order to repeat yourself, you have to come out with new words with the same meaning to expand your ideas or writing.
Questions: How to make attention to readers even your passage is repetitive?

My first week of my second semester is so busy and stressful because I am still debating which philosopher class I should take. Starting back my old routine after taking one month break, I am tired and not used to. but I will have to prepare for myself in order to finish all my assignments on time for every classes. My prediction for this semester will be so busy because I am taking 16 units which means 5 classes and 1 lab. The challenges I will be faced will be time management and studying more than before.

Spring Semester: Syllabus Response
Syllabus Response
Reading or reviewing syllabus before students start taking their classes is very important. It is because students will have better understanding of what we will do throughout the semester. In this semester, students will need to write three essays on Path Appears, one research paper for Literature Review and interview then one academic narrative essay. For example, "Write a Course Reflection/Academic Narrative, answering: how does your academic identity, future plans, interests, and possible ‘causes’ connect with authors we’ve read throughout the entire course? How do you, as the author of your research project, contribute to academic conversations of other authors? " Based on what the syllabus say, students will understand what they need to do with the essay like what the main audience of the essay and what the professor hoping us to produce the perfect narrative essay. Therefore, reading the syllabus is really important because students will know what we will be doing for the class also can be more prepared.
The policies are fair and the descriptions of essays are well explained like always!!
